Palm Pre v1.1

Setting up an Palm Pre to link to your departmental account is simple. To connect an Pre to the department email server your device will need to be running v1.1 or later of the firmware. To determine your version number go to the Launcher, Device Info, and the Version number is shown. The instructions below are for firmware v1.1 or later.

Since the Pre uses Exchange ActiveSync to connect to the server, you will need to contact Computer Services before doing the following steps. Once we have added your account into the proper security group you will be able to add your account onto the phone.

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Email icon (the envelope). (Figure A)

  2. If you have no other accounts on the phone it will immediately enter the "Add An Account" screen. If you have other email accounts setup on the phone you will need to select from the Email menu the "Preferences & Accounts" option then touch the "Add An Account" button. Once you are on Add An Account screen you will need to select from the Email menu the "Manual Setup" option. (Figure B)

  3. Now you will start entering the information about your account. Select "Exchange (EAS)" as the mail server type. The form will change to the one shown below. Complete the fields using your email address, computer login and password. The Incoming Mail Server and Domain should be entered as shown. Once you have completed the form, touch "Sign In".   4. The device will now finish the configuration and return you to the Preferences & Accounts screen. (Figure D)
